ST. PETE BOAT SHOW SEMINARS TEACH BASICS OF BOATING, STRATEGIES AND NEW TECHNOLOGY
ST. PETERSBURG, FL (December 22, 2025) – The 48th Annual St. Petersburg Power and Sailboat Show, Presented by Progressive Insurance, takes place January 15-18, 2026, at the Duke Energy Center for the Arts Mahaffey Theater – Yacht Basin and Albert Whitted Park (next to The Dali Museum). A series of nautical seminars will be presented free of charge where boating enthusiasts of all levels can deepen their knowledge, sharpen their skills, and explore new horizons on the water. From practical advice on diesel engines and stress-free docking techniques to navigating the Great Loop and understanding marine weather, expert captains and industry professionals tackle a wide range of topics for audiences of every level. These seminars offer invaluable insights, hands-on tips, and engaging discussions.
The Annapolis School of Seamanship (ASOS) and Progressive have teamed up to provide boat show attendees with complimentary on-water boat training courses. Learn key aspects of boating in real time from U.S. Coast Guard licensed captains.
These hour-long courses include Basic Boat Operator, Women at the Wheel, and Junior Captains Program. Registration is required in advance through the website: https://www.stpeteboatshow.com/experience/on-water-courses/.
On land and presented in seminar tents beyond the food court will be a dozen boating seminars presented by ASOS captains and industry professionals. Topics include the latest navigation apps; tariffs, duty and foreign flagging; marine weather; anchoring and mooring; boat buying; celestial navigation; and how to get a captain’s license.
A Kids’ Fishing Clinic is presented by Hook the Future for children ages 4-16 on Saturday, January 17 and Sunday, January 18 by local television broadcaster Captain Don Dingman. Captain Don has hosted kids fishing clinics at major boat shows and events across the Southeast, teaching thousands of families how to succeed in fishing while spending quality time outdoors with people you love.
Hours for the St. Petersburg Power and Sailboat Show, presented by Progressive, are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, January 15-17 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 18. General Admission is $24 for adults free for children ages 15 and under. Active military and veterans are eligible for complimentary one-day general admission.
